EXCERPT from Chapter 18

Abigail felt that creepy sensation fill her, but she had not awakened fully and thought it was a nightmare that she would remember coming to her.

Suddenly, she felt a heavy weight on her chest and she couldn't breathe due to something covering her mouth.  She twisted her face and tried to free her breathing with her hands; yet her palms came into contact with warm skin that wasn't her own.

She opened her eyes to see nothing except darkness, and that deep-seated dread had turned to all-out terror, as she felt a cold metal pressing against her neck.  She froze petrified.

When he spoke it was a deep, hissing growl that she swore would make a strong man faint.  How she kept her consciousness was a mystery to even her.

"Now that I have your attention, you'd better listen good, you spoiled brat.  You make one sound - one tiny whisper and I'll slit your throat from ear to ear, then kill anyone who comes through that door.  I'll fucking carve that baby out your mother's belly and slice your old man in half."

His hand lifted from her mouth and she took a deep fulfilling breath.  Her mind screamed for calmness, but at the same time, her breathing increased and her body began to shake.  Abigail felt a scream building from her gut, wanting to come out of her mouth and wished he would put his hand back over her face because she didn't know if she would be able to control the trepidation spreading through every inch of her heart.  Tears filled her eyes as she forced her mouth to stay closed.

His free hand went down to the front of her nightgown and ripped it all the way to her thighs, tearing off her underwear as well.

I really enjoyed Stone's Revenge! The story line was different from what I normally read but that didn't stop me from reading.

After viewing all the twists and turns throughout this story, I must indeed state that I would quickly pick up a sequel. SR was definitely a page-turner. There were a few slow moments, but that was easily ignored because it slammed right back into the meat of the story...

Hubbard managed to keep the story moving by keeping the focus on the main character's temper and deep seeded anger. The story was magnificently mastered with a peek-a-boo effect, which made for perfect writing. Most murder-mystery writers showcase their murder and leave the reader to figure out which one of the characters in the story is the actually villain. SR led the reader to believe or not to believe whether or not the main character was indeed a cold-hearted killer.

Great writing! I look forward to reading more like it! I can see this one being a best seller with the right promotional tools!!

RATING: (B) pretty darn good

Stones Revenge is a romantic suspense thriller that tells the story of a young man (William Stone) who is unfortunately stained by his father's cruel murders and a prosecuting attorney (Ramsey McPherson) who is out for Stone's head and is totally convinced that Stone is exactly like his father despite contradicting evidence.  Stone seeks revenge and ultimately passionate freedom when he falls for his nemesis' daughter (Abigail McPherson).

The characters are fully developed and the story believable...Hubbard's tale will put you in a page turning frenzy and give you the desire to want to know more about the characters when the book is over.

REVIEWED BY NANCY EATON AT BESTSELLERS WORLD
(PARTIAL) ...Sylvia Hubbard has written an excellent psychological thriller.  The characters, especially William, really come through with the author's descriptions.  At times, there just seems to be something frightening about his eyes.  Once I started reading this book, I found it difficult to put down.  The author builds the suspense from page one and doesn't let go throughout the book.  Add this one to your reading list.  You won't be sorry!

In Stone's Revenge, Author Sylvia Hubbard takes us on an exhilarating and suspenseful ride. The main character, Yared Castro-Chavez a.k.a. William Stone, takes you on his personal journey that includes a traumatic upbringing and the consequences he suffers at the hands of others because of his father, a psychopathic serial killer.

Fighting desperately to escape the Castro-Chavez family's legacy of being crazed people, William finds himself constantly being harassed by his nemesis, the city's prosecuting attorney, Ramsey McPherson who was responsible for putting William's father in prison. Now the only thing that McPherson can focus on is doing the same thing happens to William when a string of murders happen again in Davenport. McPherson is adamant that William is responsible for them and will stop at nothing to prove his guilt. There is no love lost between the two men. William seeks his revenge on Ramsey through his daughter, Abigail. A childhood encounter sparks the flame that will eventually leave William with having to make the most critical decision he'll ever have to make, embrace his love for Abigail or continue his revenge against her father. At any cost, Abigail is determined to prove William's innocence. Torn between the man who gave life to her and the man she loves, could her choice be the end of them all? Stone's Revenge will have your interest piqued until the very last page.

Stone's Revenge was a very exhilarating, thrilling and suspenseful read. The combination of suspense mixed with a twinge of romance, Stone's Revenge is a must read for all suspense and mystery lovers. I definitely rank it in the top 5 of my list as one of the best books of 2004.

"Enticing!" Emanuel Carpenter, Midwest Book Review & Nu Twista Flavah.com
In Stone's Revenge, a copycat murderer is on the loose. The prime suspect is William Stone, the young son of the original killer. The prosecutor of the original case, Ramsey McPherson, believes William could be the killer. Ramsey, who has all kinds of reasons for hating Stone, has just found another. Stone is in love with his daughter Abigail. Before it ends, two questions must be answered: is William the killer and will love conquer all?
There is something enticing about Stone's Revenge that makes you want to read more. The protagonist makes an interesting character. The idea of young, teenage love is intriguing. And a plot that combines a murder mystery and street lit is an attention-grabbing endeavor...

Not normally being a suspense reader I read Sylvia's book over two nights. Stone's Revenge is a psychological suspense wrapped around a love story. One man, one woman joined together by a mother's deceit. The woman becomes the victim as the man stands accused. With more than one twist to this plot of suspense, you will continue reading, if only to find out who done it and if love can conquer all.

Sylvia Hubbard has written a novel filled with an array of interesting characters. I did have a difficult time understanding the love the young woman had for her rapist. But there were so many exciting elements to the story that it didn't take away from the pace or interest in the plot. Sylvia Hubbard's Stone's Revenge will keep you furiously turning the pages as she takes you on a thrilling journey.
